Clinics & Services
In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a wide range of special clinics and healthcare services:
Asthma & Diabetic Clinics
We run special clinics for people with asthma and diabetes. The doctor and the practice nurses run these jointly. The asthma clinic is run every Tuesday morning 11:00 – 12:15 and the diabetic clinic every Thursday between 09:00 – 11:00. The practice nurses will send out review appointments.
Maternity Services
The practice provides antenatal and post-natal care. Antenatal appointments are during normal surgery hours. The receptionist can also make post-natal appointments with a doctor of your choice.
Contraceptive Services
Contraceptive services other than coil fittings are provided by the practice.
Minor Surgery
Certain minor surgery procedures are carried out in normal surgery times. Children requiring invasive procedures e.g. immunisations or minor surgery require parental/guardian consent.
Cervical Smears
All women are welcome to attend for routine cervical smears every 3 years if aged between 25-50 years old and every 5 years if aged 50-64 years old. All the doctors and the practice nurse carry these out. The receptionist can make appointments.
Health Promotion Services
Our practice nurses will be happy to advise you on any aspects of your lifestyle including smoking, alcohol, diet, exercise, stress management etc., and this can be arranged by making an appointment through the receptionist. We would encourage patients over 75Yrs to have a routine health check if they have not attended in three years.
Well Baby and Child Health Surveillance Clinics
The purpose is to ensure the normal growth and development of children and to vaccinate them. These clinics are by appointment, and are held on a Tuesday morning by Dr O’Flaherty. If you miss an appointment and need to reschedule, please do not hesitate to ring the surgery. As the babies attending are not ill it is unfair to bring sick children. These should be taken to the routine surgery.
